Wari Police have arrested three members of a kidnapping gang in connection with the killing of an auto-rickshaw driver in Dhaka.

Wari Police have arrested three members of a kidnapping gang from Gazipur, Keraniganj, and Lalbagh in connection with the killing of an auto-rickshaw driver in the capital. The arrestees are Md Delwar Hossain alias Hridoy, 40, Md Manik Sardar, 52, and Md Liton, 50.

Incident Overview

Auto-rickshaw driver Didarul Islam went missing after leaving Khilgaon with his vehicle at around 9:00 pm on June 28. He was later found unconscious on Nawabpur Road under Wari Police Station and admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital at around 4:00 pm on June 29. He died at around 10:00 pm on July 2 while undergoing treatment, police said.

Police Investigation

A case was filed with Wari Police Station. Based on the case, a team from Wari Police Station analysed CCTV footage and identified the suspects. Police conducted separate raids at around 3:00 am today and arrested the three gang members from Sreepur in Gazipur, Keraniganj in Dhaka, and the Lalbagh area of the capital.

Recovered Items

During the operation, police recovered an auto-rickshaw, a CNG-run auto-rickshaw, and three mobile phones from their possession, the DMP release said.
