Disaster Management and Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu, MP, has announced that Lalmonirhat's Sindurmati Dighi, a traditional pilgrimage site and historical landmark, will be developed into an attractive religious and tourist center. The minister made this declaration after inspecting ongoing development work at the site in Sindurmari village of Panchagram Union under Sadar Upazila of Lalmonirhat district. Despite the traditional site having fallen into disrepair over time, it remains a significant place of worship for followers of the Sanatan religion and a cornerstone of local history and folklore.
Minister Dulu emphasized that the development project aims to preserve the traditional character of Sindurmati Dighi while introducing modern facilities. This will allow devotees and tourists from across the country to perform religious rituals and take a holy bath without any inconvenience. The minister noted that the development work has been temporarily slowed by early rains this season but is expected to resume in full swing at the end of October or in November.
The transformation of Sindurmati Dighi will extend beyond basic infrastructure improvements. The project will ensure facilities for religious activities and enhance the site's aesthetic appeal and environmental quality. Minister Dulu expressed his hope that once the development is complete, Sindurmati Dighi will emerge as one of the country's most prominent religious and tourist destinations.

Accompanying the minister during his visit were Lalmonirhat Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mononita Das, Sadar Upazila Fisheries Officer Md Shamsur Rahman, District BNP Joint General Secretary ABM Faruk Siddique, and various local leaders and activists. The presence of dignitaries from the Sanatan community highlighted the importance of the site to the local population and the broader religious community.
