RAJSHAHI - An initiative has been launched to restore the heritage of Rajshahi Central Park and Zoo by introducing new animals and birds and modernizing its facilities. The initiative, prompted by demands from city residents, aims to enhance the visitor experience and preserve the park's cultural and historical significance. Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) Administrator Mahfuzur Rahman Riton and Shahjaman Khan, Director General (DG) of the Department of Livestock Services, visited the park to explore ways to make it more attractive and visitor-friendly.
During their visit, RCC Administrator Mahfuzur Rahman Riton highlighted that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman had tasked him with ensuring civic services. Riton stated, "Since I took charge, city residents have been demanding the restoration of the heritage of Rajshahi Central Park and Zoo. In response to these demands, I have raised the issue of adding new animals and birds and modernizing the park with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salahuddin Tuku."
As part of the initiative, the State Minister has already visited the zoo. Today, senior officials, including the Director General of the Department of Livestock Services, visited the zoo to conduct a feasibility study. Based on the study, advice will be provided on how to develop the zoo to make it more attractive, modern, and visitor-friendly.
Director General (DG) of the Department of Livestock Services Shahjaman Khan emphasized the efforts being made to revitalize the zoo. "In this context, we have come to visit the zoo with a team. Our team will conduct a feasibility study. Based on the study, advice will be given on how to develop the zoo to make it more attractive, modern and visitor-friendly," he said.
The visit was attended by several senior officials, including Dr Bazlur Rahman, Director (Planning) of the Department of Livestock Services, Dr Safiqur Rahman, Project Director, Dr Ananda Kumar Adhikari, Director of the Department of Livestock Services, Rajshahi Division, Rezaul Karim, Chief Executive Officer of Rajshahi City Corporation, and Ahmad Al Moin, Superintending Engineer. Their presence underscores the collaborative effort to revitalize the park and zoo.
Rajshahi Central Park and Zoo, a significant cultural and recreational site, plays a vital role in the community. The initiative to restore and modernize the park is expected to not only enhance its appeal but also contribute to the preservation of local heritage.
