Rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind are likely to continue across the country over the next five days, with heavy to very heavy rainfall expected at places, according to the latest weather bulletin issued by the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD). The BMD has forecasted light to moderately heavy rain or thundershowers with temporary gusty wind in most places over Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions, and at many places over Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, and Barishal divisions during the next 24 hours beginning at 9:00 am today. Heavy to very heavy rainfall may occur at places over Rangpur Division.

The weather office noted that the well-marked low over North Odisha and adjoining Jharkhand and Gangetic West Bengal has weakened into a low-pressure area over Bihar and adjoining areas and is likely to weaken gradually and merge with the monsoon axis. The monsoon remains active over the northern part of Bangladesh and fairly active elsewhere in the country, while it is moderate to strong over the North Bay.

Rainfall activity is expected to continue over the next five days. From July 20 to July 22, light to moderate rain or thundershowers with temporary gusty wind are likely at most places across all divisions, with moderately heavy to very heavy rainfall at places over the country. Day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged today and tomorrow. From July 20, day and night temperatures may fall slightly before remaining nearly unchanged again on the fifth day.

During the last 24 hours until 6:00 am today, the highest rainfall of 129 millimetres was recorded at Tetulia, followed by 99 millimetres at Sylhet and 90 millimetres at M.Court in Chattogram. Yesterday's highest temperature was recorded at 35.6 degrees Celsius in Tetulia, while today's lowest temperature was 23.2 degrees Celsius, also in Tetulia. In Dhaka, winds may blow from the south or southeast at 10 to 15 kilometres per hour. Relative humidity at 6:00 am was 85 percent. The sun will set in the capital at 6:48 pm today and rise at 5:22 am tomorrow.

The continuous rainfall is expected to impact daily activities and infrastructure across the country. Residents are advised to stay updated with weather forecasts and take necessary precautions to ensure safety during this period.
