The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has issued a warning that landslides may occur in the hilly regions of Chattogram division due to heavy rainfall. The alert comes as the region braces for heavy to very heavy rainfall over the next 48 hours.

Under the influence of the active monsoon, the met office predicts heavy (44 - 88mm/ 24hours) to very heavy (> 88mm/ 24hours) rainfall in several divisions including Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet.

The heavy rainfall warning also indicates that temporary waterlogging may occur in Dhaka and Chattogram metropolitan areas. Additionally, the hilly regions of Chattogram are at risk of landslides due to the intense rainfall.
