Lalmonirhat district has launched an initiative to sow more than 100,000 date palm seeds to promote afforestation, combat environmental degradation and mitigate the impacts of climate change. The programme was inaugurated by Lalmonirhat Deputy Commissioner Md Rashedul Haque Pradhan. It is being organised by Sabuj Seba Jubo Biggan Sangha in collaboration with Sabuj Seba Foundation and YouthNet Global's Lalmonirhat District Team.
Phased Implementation Across the District
The initiative will be implemented in phases across the district. Seeds will be sown along roadsides, at educational institutions, on khas land and other suitable locations. This approach ensures widespread coverage and maximizes the impact of the afforestation efforts.

They noted that date palm trees help enrich the country's natural resources and biodiversity.
