A court in Dhaka has ordered a two-day remand for Sohel Rana, who is accused of murdering his wife, dentist Sarah Roksana Pinu. The incident, which occurred in the Faydabad area of Dakkhinkhan, has shocked the community. The Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate, Aminul Islam Junaid, passed the order, granting police the time to investigate further. Police initially requested a seven-day remand but were granted only two days.

Background of the Case

The tragic incident unfolded on July 30 when Sohel left home around 11:20 AM after dropping their daughter at school. He went to his office, leaving Pinu alone at home. The couple's daughter returned home later and found her mother lying motionless on the bed with a pillow covering her face. Upon discovering her mother was not breathing, the daughter rushed back to school and informed her father using the principal's mobile phone. A murder case was subsequently filed with the Dakkhinkhan Police Station.

The Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate's Court heard the remand petition on August 1, with police requesting a seven-day period to interrogate Sohel. However, the court limited the remand to just two days. The decision comes as authorities continue to piece together the events leading up to Pinu's death.

Community Reaction and Legal Proceedings

The community has expressed shock and grief over the murder of Sarah Roksana Pinu, a respected dentist in the area. Friends and colleagues remember her for her dedication to her profession and her kindness. As the investigation progresses, the community awaits further updates from the authorities. The legal proceedings will determine the next steps in the case, with the two-day remand period allowing police to gather crucial evidence.

Sohel Rana's remand provides police with a limited window to interrogate him and gather evidence. The court's decision reflects the need for a swift but thorough investigation into this tragic incident. The case underscores the importance of timely legal action in such sensitive matters.
