In the wake of flash floods and landslides, the government has intensified its efforts to manage the situation in the country's southeastern and northeastern districts. Field information offices are actively conducting public awareness campaigns to inform and educate the affected populations.
According to the latest reports from the regional and district information offices under the Directorate of Mass Communication and the Department of Information, district and upazila information offices have continued public awareness activities in the disaster-affected areas. These efforts include road campaigns, public announcements, and film screenings to disseminate crucial information.
In Chattogram, floodwaters have inundated the metropolitan area and all 15 upazilas of the district. The District Information Office has advised Local Warning Signal No. 3 and is focusing on emergency public awareness campaigns. These campaigns highlight the postponement of HSC examinations, advisories to avoid unsafe houses, health precautions, preventing snakebites, and ensuring the safety of vulnerable groups such as children, women, older persons, and persons with disabilities.
Khagrachhari district has seen no rainfall and no new incidents of landslides or hill collapses, though floodwaters have receded from most areas. The District Information Office has been disseminating awareness messages on landslides, floods, and post-flood safety measures since the onset of heavy rainfall.
Cox's Bazar municipality and 74 affected unions have experienced improved flood situations, with 58 mm of rainfall recorded in the past 24 hours. The District Information Office continues its awareness campaigns and public announcements on landslides, floods, and post-flood safety measures. In Rangamati, the situation is currently normal, with ongoing road campaigns encouraging people in landslide-prone areas to move to safe shelters.
Bandarban district has also seen a normalization of the disaster situation, with 30 mm of rainfall in the past 24 hours. The water levels of the Sangu and Matamuhuri rivers are below the danger level, and people are returning home from shelters. The District Information Office has continued its awareness campaigns and film screenings on safety measures.
