Gas supply to industrial, captive power, and CNG customers in several areas of Gazipur and Tangail will remain suspended for 16 hours on Tuesday due to pipeline tie-in work, according to a press release issued by Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Limited. The shutdown will be in effect from 8 am to 12 midnight as tie-in work will be carried out on 10-inch and 20-inch, 140 PSI gas transmission lines from Joydebpur to Kumudini area in Tangail district.
Affected Areas
During this period, all industrial, captive power, and CNG users connected to the affected transmission lines in areas under Gazipur division including Joydebpur, Naojore, Itahata, Kodda, Konabari, Kashimpur, Mawchak, Shafipur, Chandra (Palli Bidyut), Kaliakoir, and Mirzapur will remain without gas supply.
Potential Low Pressure
The authorities also warned that gas pressure may remain low in nearby areas during the maintenance period. Titas Gas expressed regret for the temporary inconvenience caused to the customers.
Why This Matters
The suspension of gas supply is crucial for the maintenance and safety of the gas transmission lines. Regular maintenance helps prevent potential leaks and ensures the efficient distribution of gas. However, the temporary shutdown can impact industrial operations, captive power plants, and CNG stations in the affected areas.
What Happens Next
Once the tie-in work is completed, gas supply is expected to be restored. Industries and businesses in the affected areas should plan accordingly to minimize disruptions. Regular maintenance activities like these are essential for the longevity and safety of the gas transmission infrastructure.
