The flood situation in eight districts of Bangladesh's southeastern and northeastern regions has shown significant improvement as floodwaters recede. The recent floods, caused by heavy rainfall and hill torrents, affected a large number of people. However, floodwaters have started receding, and the overall situation is expected to improve significantly within the next two to three days. The government has undertaken rehabilitation programmes for the affected areas.

Situation in Chattogram District

According to the latest report from the Chattogram District Information Office, water levels in the district have receded. All 15 upazilas of Chattogram district and Chattogram Metropolitan area were inundated by floodwaters, with six upazilas—Satkania, Banshkhali, Lohagara, Chandanaish, Boalkhali, and Sandwip—being the worst affected.

The floods caused extensive damage in Chattogram district. A total of 15,223 houses, 387 educational institutions, 1,320 kilometres of roads, and 156 bridges and culverts were damaged due to the flood.

Continued Awareness Campaigns

The relevant offices and agencies have continued awareness campaigns on flash floods, landslides, hill collapses, and other natural disasters to ensure the safety and preparedness of the affected communities.
