DHAKA — Starting today, the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) has launched a nationwide data collection campaign for farmers and agricultural land across the country. This initiative is part of the government’s effort to implement the Farmer Card programme, which was announced in the election manifesto. The campaign is being rolled out simultaneously in all upazilas, with data initially being collected from one block in each upazila before expanding to all blocks in subsequent phases.

A press release from the DAE stated that the decision to start the data collection was made during the second meeting of the Farmer Card Technical Working Committee. The meeting, chaired by the Agriculture Minister at the Ministry of Agriculture, also decided that data collection activities for farmers and land will proceed concurrently in every upazila.

The Farmer Card programme aims to provide farmers with a comprehensive identification and support system. By collecting detailed data, the government hopes to better understand the needs of the farming community and provide targeted assistance. This initiative is expected to enhance agricultural productivity and support sustainable farming practices.

Farmers are encouraged to cooperate with the DAE officials during the data collection process. The information gathered will be crucial for the successful implementation of the Farmer Card programme, which is designed to offer various benefits and resources to the agricultural sector.
