In a major operation, Dhaka police arrested 471 individuals as part of an ongoing crackdown on crime in the capital. The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) reported that 49 criminal cases were filed during the 24-hour drive, which targeted suspected criminals in various city areas.

Areas Targeted and Arrests Made

The operation saw significant arrests in multiple areas: 53 in Ramna, 29 in Lalbagh, 59 in Wari, 69 in Motijheel, 78 each in Tejgaon and Mirpur, 43 each in Gulshan and Uttara, and 19 by the Detective Branch (DB). This widespread approach indicates a concerted effort to address criminal activity across different parts of the city.

Seized Items and Recovered Goods

During the raids, police confiscated 10.11 kilograms of cannabis, 12,284 Yaba tablets, six cans of locally produced Hunter Beer, and several weapons including knives, machetes, a sickle, a cutter, and a screwdriver. Additionally, a CNG auto-rickshaw, five mobile phones, two televisions, a microwave oven, Tk1,550 in cash, and two victims were rescued.
