Iran's army announced on Saturday it has struck US military targets in Kuwait and Jordan in response to American attacks, according to a statement carried by Iranian state broadcaster. In Kuwait, Iranian forces targeted an ammunition depot at the Al-Adiri camp, the headquarters buildings and ammunition depots at the Ali Al-Salem base and several communication bridges. In Jordan, fuel tanks at the Al-Azraq base were also targeted, the state broadcaster said on Telegram.
Kuwait's army wrote on X on Saturday that explosions may be heard as a result of "air defense systems intercepting hostile targets". Air raid sirens were also sounded in Bahrain, which hosts a major US naval base, according to the country's interior ministry.
The Iranian attacks come in response to recent American military actions. The US has not yet commented on the reported strikes. The situation remains tense as both nations have a history of confrontation.
This development has significant international implications, particularly for countries in the region that host US military bases. The attacks highlight the ongoing tensions between Iran and the United States, which have been escalating over various geopolitical issues.
For Bangladesh, the situation underscores the importance of maintaining a neutral stance in international conflicts. The country's strategic location and its relationships with both Iran and the United States require careful diplomatic maneuvering to ensure national security and stability.
