The International Bangladesh Squash tournament has officially begun today at the Bashundhara Sports City Squash Complex in Dhaka. Chief Engineer of the Bangladesh Army Major General Md Hasan Uz Zaman inaugurated the five-day event by releasing balloons. The tournament, promoted by Brigadier General G M Qumrul Islam (retd) and overseen by Bashundhara Sports City executive officer Colonel Mohasinul Karim (retd), features 24 top-rated professional squash players from eleven countries including Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka, Hong Kong, Singapore, Iran, Kuwait, Bahrain, Egypt, Japan, and Germany.
The tournament is expected to significantly boost the standard of squash in Bangladesh, thanks to the participation of foreign professionals. The event is not just a competition but a platform for local players to gain valuable experience and exposure to international playstyles and techniques.
