Turkish FM Hakan Fidan Holds Talks with Bangladesh Opposition Leader Shafiqur Rahman

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan met with the Leader of the Opposition in the Jatiya Sangsad and Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh, Shafiqur Rahman, to discuss mutual interests and bilateral relations.

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan held a meeting with the Leader of the Opposition in the Jatiya Sangsad and Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh, Shafiqur Rahman, during his visit to Dhaka. The meeting took place on Friday night at a hotel in the capital. Discussions focused on mutual interests, bilateral relations, and regional situations, according to a press release from Jamaat.

The meeting emphasized strengthening the historical and diplomatic relations between Bangladesh and Turkey. Topics such as cultural exchange, education, scientific research, trade and economic cooperation, and technological partnerships were also discussed. Additionally, both sides exchanged views on maintaining regional peace and stability and the need for joint cooperation in addressing global crises.

Shafiqur Rahman expressed gratitude to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his government for their support of the Rohingyas and called for more effective initiatives to resolve the Rohingya issue permanently. A goodwill letter addressed to President Erdogan was handed over to Fidan during the meeting.

The Jamaat delegation included Naib Amir and Deputy Leader of the Opposition Syed Abdullah Muhammad Taher, Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar, Assistant Secretary General Rafiqul Islam Khan, Central Executive Council members Nurul Islam Bulbul and Selim Uddin, and Amir's Foreign Affairs Advisor Mir Ahmad Bin Quasem (Arman).
