Dr Shafiqur Rahman, the Leader of the Opposition in Parliament and Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer, has stated that the trial of martyred journalist Turab's killing is essential to establish justice and ensure a safe working environment for journalists. Speaking after visiting Turab's grave at Fatehpur Graveyard in Beanibazar, he highlighted the importance of bringing Turab's killers to trial to honor his sacrifices and those who freed the country from fascism.
Call for Justice
Dr Shafiqur expressed deep concern over the delay in judicial proceedings for the murder case, noting that two years have passed since the killing without any trial beginning. He warned that if the murder remains unpunished, it could discourage future generations of courageous and truth-seeking journalists.
Visit to Family and Relatives
After offering prayers at Turab's grave, Dr Shafiqur met with Turab's family members, conveying condolences and enquiring about their well-being. He also visited the graves of several relatives and Jamaat leaders, offering prayers and expressing sympathy to their families.
