In a significant statement, Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, BNP Senior Joint Secretary General and Political Adviser to the Prime Minister, revealed that if Sheikh Hasina had not fallen during the July Uprising, countless students would have faced severe consequences, including potential hangings. Rizvi made these remarks at a discussion and documentary screening organized by the Nurses Association of Bangladesh (NAB) at the Bangladesh Medical University (BMU) premises.

Rizvi emphasized that BNP Chairman and current Prime Minister Tarique Rahman provided him with daily directives throughout the movement, which he shared with journalists. He criticized the current trend of various parties claiming credit for the July Uprising, stating that Sheikh Hasina herself admitted in a press conference on July 22 that the movement was instigated by BNP.

Rizvi questioned the political language used against BNP, stating it was not in line with political culture. He highlighted the sacrifices of 650 BNP leaders and activists during the anti-discrimination movement. Describing the July movement as an outburst against 17 years of oppression, Rizvi compared it to the spirit of the French Revolution.

Furthermore, Rizvi condemned the vulgar and indecent language introduced in politics by former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, noting that it is now being repeated by leaders of a new party. He praised BNP for maintaining political decorum despite enduring injustice and oppression.

The event was chaired by NAB’s President, BMU branch Sharmin Akhter, and attended by Political Assistant to the Prime Minister Rashid Khan, BNP Health Affairs Secretary Dr. Md. Rafiqul Islam, and Co-Health Affairs Secretary (Nurses and Health Assistants) Sujon Mia.
