Chittagong's TIC Milanaytan witnessed Sheikh Rayhan Anwar's second solo concert, 'Kingbadontir Gaan', on Friday evening. Organized by Protijja Sangeet Academy, the two-hour event transported the audience through a vibrant journey of the subcontinent's musical traditions. Anwar's renditions of legendary songs from various genres created an emotional and nostalgic atmosphere.
The concert featured a diverse selection of songs, including classical, modern, Rabindra Sangeet, Nazrul Geeti, ghazals, and Lalon Geeti. Anwar's performance of 'Aayna Balam' by Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan showcased his dedication to classical music. His rendition of Rabindranath Tagore's 'Majhe Majhe Tobo Dekha Pai' blended emotion and restraint seamlessly.
Anwar paid homage to iconic artists like Pandit Ajay Chakraborty, Kishore Kumar, Manna Dey, and Lalon Fakir, while adding his unique touch to each song. His performance of 'Dama Dam Mast Qalandar' towards the end of the concert created a festive atmosphere, with spontaneous audience participation making the event memorable.
The accompanying musicians, including Tapan Chakraborty on tabla, Romen Shil on keyboard, Nandan Nandi on octopad, Suchayan Dey on lead guitar, and Raju Barua on bass guitar, enhanced the musical experience. Upal Shil's musical arrangement added to the overall beauty of the concert. Purna Chowdhury's classical dance performances during two songs provided an additional attraction.
'Kingbadontir Gaan' was a heartfelt attempt to reminisce about the golden age of music. Sheikh Rayhan Anwar demonstrated through his voice, dedication, and love for music that timeless songs never grow old, resonating with new generations of listeners.
