A new pair of intercity trains will be introduced on the Dhaka-Cox's Bazar route later this month, aiming to meet the rising demand for travel to Cox's Bazar. State Minister for Railways Habibur Rashid made the announcement during a visit to the Cox's Bazar Iconic Railway Station.

Meeting Growing Demand

Rashid highlighted the steady increase in the number of passengers and tourists traveling to Cox's Bazar, which has prompted the government to expand rail services. The new train pair is expected to significantly reduce passenger suffering, alleviate ticket pressure, and ensure a more comfortable and timely journey.

The state minister also mentioned plans to transform the Cox's Bazar Iconic Railway Station into an international-standard, tourism-friendly rail hub. As part of this initiative, the full operation and management of the station will be entrusted to a private organization to ensure efficient and high-quality services.

Modernizing Facilities and Services

During his visit, Rashid inspected various sections of the station and reviewed passenger services, infrastructure, cleanliness, security arrangements, and overall operational activities. He instructed the concerned officials to expedite the full opening of the station and ensure international-standard services for passengers.

The announcement was made in the presence of Cox's Bazar Sadar MP Lutfur Rahman Kazal, senior railway officials, and officials of the Cox's Bazar Iconic Railway Station.
