Undergraduate Students Gain Research Skills at RU Chemistry Department Workshop

A scientific workshop titled 'From Conference to Exploration: Empowering Undergraduate Students in Research' was held at the University of Rajshahi's Chemistry Department.

A day-long scientific workshop titled 'From Conference to Exploration: Empowering Undergraduate Students in Research' was held today at the University of Rajshahi's (RU) Department of Chemistry. The workshop aimed to familiarize undergraduate students with research, raise awareness about its importance, create interest, and provide necessary guidance for future involvement. Vice-Chancellor Professor Md. Faridul Islam and Pro Vice-Chancellor (Education) Professor Mamunur Rashid were present as chief and special guests, respectively.

Workshop Highlights

The workshop featured a keynote speech by Distinguished Research Professor Saidur Rahman from Sunway University, Malaysia, who discussed the importance of research, perseverance, international collaboration, and building a research-based career. An Invited Lecture was delivered by Dr. Faridul Islam, Senior Scientific Officer of the Bangladesh Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (BCSIR), Rajshahi, who shared practical research experiences and strategies for success.

Student Participation and Awards

A total of 21 posters and 14 presentations were showcased by researchers at the PhD, MPhil, and postgraduate levels. Undergraduate students actively participated in question-and-answer sessions and provided written feedback on poster presentations. Based on the analytical nature of their feedback, two students from each batch will be awarded. Additionally, presenters securing first, second, and third positions will be recognized for the quality of their research, presentation, and overall performance.
