In a significant effort to uplift the socio-economic conditions of the indigenous community in Badalgachhi upazila of Naogaon district, bicycles, sewing machines, and educational scholarships were distributed today. The initiative, held at the upazila auditorium, aimed to encourage students to continue their education and improve the community's living standards.

The assistance was provided under the Development Assistance for Special Areas (excluding the Chattogram Hill Tracts) programme, implemented by the Prime Minister's Office for the 2025-26 fiscal year. Local lawmaker Fazle Huda Babul graced the event as the chief guest, while Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Israt Jahan presided over the ceremony.

Among the special guests were Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Badalgachhi Police Station Mohammad Ruhul Amin, Upazila Agriculture Officer Sabab Farhan, Upazila Livestock Officer Ripa Rani, and General Secretary of the Badalgachhi upazila BNP Abdul Hadi Chowdhury Tipu. The event saw the distribution of bicycles to 38 indigenous students, sewing machines to 25 beneficiaries, and cash educational scholarships to 253 students.

This initiative is part of a broader effort to support indigenous communities across special areas, aiming to provide essential resources and opportunities for education and skill development. The programme underscores the government's commitment to inclusive development and the empowerment of marginalized communities.

The distribution of these resources is expected to have a lasting impact on the community, fostering a culture of education and self-reliance among the indigenous population in Naogaon.
