Chittagong University (CU) will host a day-long seminar and cultural programme tomorrow to mark 'Nazrul Year' and the 127th birth anniversary of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam.

Chittagong University (CU) will host a day-long seminar and cultural programme tomorrow to mark 'Nazrul Year' and the 127th birth anniversary of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam. The event, beginning at 10:00 am, features a keynote by former CU Bangla Department professor Dr. Mohammad Nurul Amin and performances by noted Nazrul Sangeet artiste Ferdous Ara and CU students.

Seminar and Cultural Programme

The day's events will kick off with a seminar titled 'National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam: Patriotism, Humanism and Mass Awakening.' CU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mohammad Al-Forkan will attend as the chief guest, and Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) Prof. Dr. Mohammed Al-Amin will be the special guest. The discussion session will include Bangla Department Chairman Prof. Dr. Mohammod Anwar Sayed, Prof. Dr. Taslima Begum, and Director of the CU Nazrul Research Centre Prof. Mohammad Farid Uddin.

Cultural Performances

The second session will feature a cultural programme with performances by noted Nazrul Sangeet artiste Ferdous Ara. Students from the university's Department of Dramatics and Department of Music will also participate.

Historical Significance

This year's observance holds special significance as it marks the centenary of Nazrul's first visit to Chattogram in 1926. Director of the Nazrul Research Centre Prof. Mohammad Farid Uddin highlighted this during a press conference.
