MEP Hi-Tech Industrial Park Limited today broke ground for its new manufacturing facility at the National Special Economic Zone (NSEZ) in Mirsarai, Chattogram, marking the official start of construction of a technology-driven and environmentally friendly electrical and electronics manufacturing plant. The project, developed in collaboration with the Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA), aims to strengthen the country's industrialisation efforts, promote domestic investment, and expand technology-based manufacturing. The facility will be built on around 10 acres of land with an investment of about Tk 200 crore, entirely from domestic sources. It will manufacture a range of electrical and electronic products, including electric cables, switches and sockets, fans, LED lights, and circuit breakers, with the goal of expanding presence in both domestic and international markets.
Project Significance and Scope
The new facility is expected to play a crucial role in meeting the growing domestic demand for electrical and electronic products while enhancing the global competitiveness of "Made in Bangladesh" goods. Once fully operational, the project is anticipated to create around 2,000 direct and indirect jobs, contributing significantly to the local economy.

MEP Group, established in 1974, operates several business ventures and has a robust distribution network across the country. The construction of the project began in April 2026 and is scheduled for completion by December 2028, with commercial production expected to commence in January 2029.
