In a significant move towards financial oversight, the first meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Finance of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad convened today at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban. The meeting was chaired by committee chairman Mushfiqur Rahman, MP. The session saw a detailed presentation by the Bangladesh Bank on the nation's central bank and its monetary policy, followed by extensive discussions among committee members.

Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, MP, was in attendance, alongside Chief Whip Md. Nurul Islam, MP, and State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Mir Shahe Alam, MP. Other notable attendees included MPs Md Jalal Uddin, Moinul Islam Khan, Md Shahadat Hossain, Md Saiful Alam, Syed Zainul Abedin, and Md Abul Hasnat.

The meeting also welcomed the Secretary of the Financial Institutions Division of the Ministry of Finance, the Secretary of the Internal Resources Division, and the Acting Chairman of the National Board of Revenue (NBR). Officials from relevant ministries and the Bangladesh Parliament Secretariat were present to provide comprehensive insights.

The presentation by the Bangladesh Bank covered critical aspects of the country’s monetary policy and the role of the central bank in maintaining economic stability. Committee members engaged in a thorough discussion, reflecting the importance of the issues at hand and the committee's commitment to financial governance.

This meeting marks the beginning of the committee's efforts to scrutinize and guide the financial policies of the Ministry of Finance, ensuring transparency and accountability in financial management.
