US President Donald Trump has threatened to launch more severe attacks on Iran tonight and seize Kharg Island, a crucial center for Iran's oil exports. This threat comes amid ongoing retaliatory strikes between the US and Iran, putting fragile ceasefire and peace talks at risk. Trump made these threats in a post on his social media platform, Truth Social.
Despite the escalating tensions, Iranian and Western sources report that indirect talks between the two nations have intensified regarding a preliminary peace agreement. Tehran has not yet responded to Trump's latest threats, but Iran's Foreign Ministry stated earlier that the recent US attacks have rendered the April ceasefire virtually meaningless.
The conflict began on February 28 when the US and Israel launched simultaneous aggressions against Iran. Since then, over 7,000 people have been killed, and millions have been displaced in Iran and Lebanon. The attacks have also disrupted the Hormuz Strait, a critical waterway, leading to increased fuel prices in the international market.
