A former Air Canada pilot has been arrested for allegedly flying over 900 flights with a fraudulent pilot license for nearly 17 years. The Peel Regional Police in Canada have charged Geoffrey Wall, 59, with fraud and other offenses after a four-month investigation. Wall is accused of using a fake pilot license to operate more than 900 domestic and international flights between 2009 and 2025.
Police say Wall had a valid commercial pilot license but lacked the required 'Airline Transport Pilot License' needed to be a captain. He is charged with one count of fraud, two counts of forgery, three counts of possessing counterfeit trademarks, and one count of endangering public safety.
Peel Regional Police Chief Nishan Duraiappah stated that the incident is highly concerning and undermines public trust and safety. Air Canada, however, assured that passenger safety was never compromised due to mandatory pilot training and evaluations.
Air Canada removed Wall from active duty upon learning of the issue and voluntarily reported the matter to Transport Canada. Hassan Shahidi, head of the Flight Safety Foundation, described the allegations as an 'exceptional and extremely rare incident.'
