A Bangladeshi national, identified as Mohammad Nurul Amin (44), died from injuries sustained in a fire at a hotel in New Delhi's Malviya Nagar area. The incident occurred on Wednesday night. According to the verified Facebook page of the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi, the fire resulted in the deaths of 22 people from various countries, including Bangladesh. The high commission is working to facilitate the repatriation of the deceased's body to Bangladesh. Two Bangladeshi families were notably affected by the fire, which also injured 28 people.
The fire broke out in a building housing a restaurant on the ground floor and a hotel on the upper floors. Among the deceased were nine Indian citizens and nationals from Mozambique, Liberia, Nigeria, and Uzbekistan. The Bangladesh High Commission reported that three of the eight injured Bangladeshis are in critical condition and are being treated in various Delhi hospitals. The commission is maintaining constant contact with Indian authorities and hospitals regarding the condition of the injured.
