Spain and Argentina are gearing up for a highly anticipated World Cup final on Sunday in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The match is set to be a historic showdown, with Lionel Messi's Argentina aiming to become the first team since Brazil in 1962 to win consecutive World Cups. Spain, on the other hand, is seeking its second title after their victory in 2010.

Fire Hazards and Presidential Presence

Organisers are closely monitoring smoke from wildfires in Canada, which has affected air quality across large parts of the United States. Andrew Giuliani, White House World Cup task force executive director, confirmed that the National Weather Service is working with FIFA to keep an eye on the situation. US President Donald Trump and Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum are expected to be among the 80,000 spectators at MetLife Stadium. This will be the only game of the tournament that Trump has attended.

Teams Ready for Battle

Spain captain Rodri, the 2024 Ballon D'Or winner, anticipates a physical match and is preparing his team to handle any provocations. Rodri emphasised the team's adaptability and complete game style, which has brought them to the final. Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni praised Messi, calling him a legend, and urged fans to cherish the moment as Messi leads the team in another World Cup final at the age of 39.

Argentina's goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez expressed deep emotion over the team's journey, saying he sometimes cries thinking about their achievements. Meanwhile, England and France are set to play in Miami to determine third place, with both teams reflecting on their semi-final losses. England coach Thomas Tuchel admitted the pain of their defeat, while France coach Didier Deschamps, preparing for his final World Cup match, vowed no tears as he steps down.
