Saraswati Puja, a major religious festival for the Hindu community, is being observed today. Goddess Saraswati, known as the deity of knowledge and wisdom, is worshipped on this day. She is depicted wearing white, holding the Vedas in one hand and a Veena in the other, earning her the title Veenapani.
Today, various Puja venues across the country, including Dhaka, will resonate with the sounds of traditional instruments like Dhak, Dhol, Kanshor, Shankha, and Ululdhvoni in reverence to Goddess Saraswati. According to scriptures, the worship of the benevolent Goddess of Knowledge takes place annually on the Panchami Tithi of the Shukla Paksha in the month of Magh.
Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus extended his heartfelt greetings and congratulations to the Hindu community on the occasion of Saraswati Puja. In his message, he emphasized the communal harmony in Bangladesh, stating, 'Bangladesh is a shining example of communal harmony. For thousands of years, people of all faiths have lived together in mutual respect and harmony in this land. This country belongs to all of us. Bangladesh is a safe and peaceful homeland for everyone, irrespective of religion or color.'
