A third story recounts how Krishna, after defeating the demon Narakasura, was welcomed by his sister Subhadra, who applied a tilak on his forehead and offered him sweets.
Regardless of the specific mythological origins, Bhai Phota has become a significant social and familial event. Sisters apply a tilak on their brothers' foreheads, and brothers often give gifts to their sisters. The festival emphasizes the love and affection between siblings and strengthens familial bonds.
