Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has expelled Satkhira-4 Member of Parliament Gazi Nazrul Islam from the party due to allegations of moral misconduct. The decision was announced in a press release signed by Jamaat-e-Islami Assistant Secretary General and Secretary of its Central Publicity and Media Department, Ehsanul Mahbub Jubayer. The decision was taken at an emergency meeting of the party's Central Executive Council, chaired by Jamaat Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman, MP, and attended by members of the Central Executive Council. An organisational investigation found evidence of moral misconduct, leading to the expulsion under Article 62 of the party's constitution. The party has also decided to notify the Bangladesh Election Commission of this decision.

The press release states that the decision was based on findings from an investigation into recent media reports concerning Gazi Nazrul Islam. The allegations led to the Central Executive Council's decision to expel him from the party.

The expulsion of a sitting Member of Parliament by a major political party highlights the internal disciplinary measures taken by Jamaat-e-Islami to address allegations of misconduct. This move is expected to have implications for the political landscape in Bangladesh.
