Deputy Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobi Hajjaj stated that the expansion of arts and sports education in primary schools will require 50-60,000 specialized teachers within the next five years. This initiative aims to create new employment opportunities and sustainable career pathways for young graduates in music, dance, fine arts, drama, and sports.
During a meeting with university faculty and experts from music, dance, drama, and fine arts departments, Hajjaj emphasized the government's commitment to integrating these subjects into the primary education curriculum. The goal is to develop students as global citizens with necessary skills for future careers.
The Deputy Minister called for university collaboration to train students for future roles as primary school teachers. He highlighted the importance of curriculum development and teacher training to establish arts as a crucial part of students' holistic development.
The meeting included the Secretary of the Primary and Mass Education Ministry and chairpersons from 24 universities. It was noted that arts and culture will be included in the fourth-grade textbook by 2027 and fully integrated into the new curriculum by 2028.
