A private hospital in Narsingdi has been fined Tk 150,000 for operating without a renewed licence and other irregularities.

A mobile court fined Green Life (Pvt.) Hospital and Diagnostic Centre in Narsingdi sadar upazila Tk 150,000 for operating without a renewed licence and other irregularities. The fine was imposed under the Consumer Rights Protection Act, 2009 and was paid on the spot. The hospital's X-ray unit was sealed, and authorities were directed to renew the licence and rectify irregularities by July 31.

Operation and Findings

The operation was led by Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Asma Jahan Sarkar in the Puratan Kandapara area of Narsingdi Municipality. The mobile court found that the hospital had been operating without a renewed licence and was involved in several other irregularities. The fine was realized and deposited into the government treasury immediately.

Directives and Undertaking

During the operation, the hospital's X-ray unit was sealed. The authorities were directed to renew the licence and rectify all identified irregularities by July 31. The hospital authorities submitted a written undertaking to comply with the directives.

Legal and Medical Presence

Narsingdi Sadar Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Khalil Qaiser Khokon conducted the prosecution. Medical Officer Dr Sanjoy Kumar Saha and the pathologist of Narsingdi Sadar Hospital were also present during the drive.
