Bangladesh Reports 8 Additional Child Deaths Linked to Measles Symptoms

Eight more children have died showing measles symptoms in Bangladesh in the last 24 hours, raising the total number of deaths to 684 since March 15. The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) reported that no deaths from confirmed measles were recorded in the past 24 hours. However, the number of suspected measles cases reached 974 in the past day, bringing the total to 115,138 since March 15.

Rising Measles Cases and Deaths

The DGHS noted that 197 confirmed measles cases were reported in the past 24 hours, raising the total number of confirmed cases to 14,104 since March 15. A total of 97,819 suspected measles patients have been admitted to hospitals during this period, with 94,275 patients recovering and being discharged.

Efforts to Combat the Outbreak

The ongoing measles outbreak in Bangladesh highlights the urgent need for effective public health measures. Vaccination campaigns, public awareness, and improved healthcare access are critical to reducing the impact of this contagious disease. The DGHS continues to monitor the situation closely and implement strategies to control the spread of measles.
