Four college teachers who moderated the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) Physics (Theory) First Paper examination have been served with show-cause notices over alleged errors and inconsistencies in the question paper. The teachers involved are Prof Md Mujibur Rahman of Sreemangal Government College, Asst. Prof. Kazi Junayed Al Amin of Brindaban Government College in Habiganj, Asst. Prof. Mochaddek Hossain Khan of Sylhet MC College, and Lecturer Mohammad Helal Uddin of Sylhet Government Model School and College. The notices were issued by the Sylhet Education Board.
According to the notices, errors and inconsistencies were detected in questions No. 6 and 7 of the creative section of the exam held on July 13. The notices state that these errors caused severe mental stress among examinees and were an act of gross irresponsibility and professional negligence.
The Sylhet Education Board emphasized that such errors have tarnished its image. The teachers have been asked to submit written explanations within three working days, stating why departmental action should not be taken against them.
The Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examination is a critical milestone for students in Bangladesh, and the integrity of the question papers is paramount. The incident has raised concerns about the quality control measures in place for the examination process.
The Sylhet Education Board's action reflects its commitment to maintaining high standards in the examination system. The outcome of the show-cause notices will be closely watched by both students and educators.
