Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Husain today stressed the importance of teaching the real history of Bangladesh's independence to students. Speaking at a merit scholarship and reception programme organized by Nabo Diganta Club at the Gangkulkandi Bhuiyan Bazar playground in Monohardi upazila, the minister highlighted the ongoing conspiracies against Bangladesh and the necessity for young students to understand the true history of the liberation war.

The minister noted that conspiracies continue to threaten Bangladesh, making it crucial to uphold the real history of independence so that students can access the true narrative of the liberation war. He underscored the government's policy of 'Bangladesh first', led by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, and mentioned various development programmes in education, health, and agriculture that are benefiting the people.

At the event, the minister distributed scholarship crests and cash money to 40 meritorious students. The programme was chaired by Nabo Diganta Club Chairman Professor Mostak Ahmed Bhuiyan and attended by Monohardi Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) MA Muhaimeen Al Zihan and Monohardi upazila BNP member secretary Aminur Rahman Sarker Dolon.

Sakhawat's remarks come at a time when historical narratives are increasingly contested, making it essential for educational institutions to provide accurate and comprehensive histories to the younger generation. The minister's call for upholding the real history of independence is part of a broader effort to ensure that students are well-informed about their nation's past.

The event not only recognized academic excellence but also reinforced the importance of national history in shaping the future of the country. By distributing scholarships, the minister encouraged students to pursue their education with diligence and pride in their heritage.
