RAJSHAHI, July 17, 2026 — Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) hosted a daylong workshop titled 'Optimization: From GPA Prediction to AI-Powered Engineering Decision Making' to equip students with modern engineering skills and AI-based decision-making capabilities. Organized by the Department of Mechanical Engineering, the workshop featured various sessions on data analytics, engineering optimization, machine learning, and career guidance in the age of AI.
Expert Trainer and Sessions
The main trainer and speaker of the workshop was Anan Ashrabi Ananya, a former student of the Mechanical Engineering Department of RUET. Currently a PhD researcher in Industrial Optimization at Linköping University in Sweden and a consultant on AI and Optimization at Sweden-based organization 'Norminds', Ananya led the sessions. Professor Dr. Mahadi Hasan Masud, Prof Md. Wahedul Islam, and other department lecturers were also present.
Hands-On Training and Career Guidance
A total of 50 students from the Mechanical Engineering Department participated in the workshop. The event included theoretical discussions and hands-on training on using data analytics, prediction models, optimization, and AI to solve real-world engineering problems. The sessions covered data analytics, engineering optimization, machine learning, a Python Lab, a Mini Hackathon, and career guidance for engineering students in the age of AI.
The workshop concluded with students providing feedback, receiving participation certificates, and hearing concluding remarks. Participants found the practical sessions, especially the Python Lab and career guidance, highly beneficial for their future careers and higher education.
