The Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations under the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Chattogram, have been postponed until further notice due to the aftermath of the floods. The Chattogram Education Board (CEB) made the announcement in a notice issued on Thursday evening. The decision was taken considering the overall situation in the flood-affected areas, the physical and mental well-being of students, and the severe difficulties in reaching examination centres due to damaged roads. In accordance with a decision of the Inter-Education Boards Coordination Committee, the notice said the remaining examinations will remain suspended until further notice. It also said a revised schedule for the postponed examinations will be announced later. Chairman of the Chattogram Education Board Prof Abdullah Al Mamun Chowdhury told BSS that many examinees were facing difficulties in reaching their examination centres due to roads damaged by the floods. The decision to postpone the examinations was taken in view of the difficulties they were facing, he added.

Impact of Floods on Examinations

The recent floods have caused significant disruptions across Chattogram, affecting infrastructure and transportation. Many roads have been damaged, making it extremely difficult for students to travel to their examination centres. The CEB has highlighted the need to consider the safety and well-being of students during this challenging time. The floods have not only damaged physical infrastructure but also impacted the mental health of students, many of whom have been directly affected by the disaster.

Coordination and Future Steps

The decision to postpone the examinations was made in coordination with the Inter-Education Boards Coordination Committee. This ensures a unified approach across different education boards in the region. The CEB has assured that a revised examination schedule will be announced once the situation improves. In the meantime, students are advised to stay updated with official announcements from the board.
