The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) has approved several significant proposals. These include the printing, binding, and supply of free textbooks for various education levels in 2027, as well as revisions to the coal price mechanism for two major power plants.

Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury presided over the meeting at the Cabinet Division in the Bangladesh Secretariat. The committee approved a proposal from the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education for printing 7.35 crore copies of textbooks for Classes I to V, through 63 selected institutions, at a cost of Tk 404.02 crore.

Additionally, the committee approved a proposal from the Secondary and Higher Education Division for printing 3.18 crore copies of Ebtedayee level textbooks through 35 institutions, at a cost of Tk 153.91 crore. Separate proposals for printing textbooks for Classes VI and VII were also recommended for approval.

The CCGP also approved a proposal to revise the coal price mechanism for a coal-fired power plant in Banshkhali, Chattogram, and the 307MW Barishal Electric Power Company Limited (BEPC) plant. The revised mechanism is expected to ensure the continued operation of these plants by providing a stable framework for coal supply costs and related fuel payments.

These approvals are crucial for ensuring the timely supply of textbooks to students and the stable operation of power plants, which are vital for the country's education and energy sectors.
