In the fiscal year 2026-27, Bangladesh has witnessed a substantial increase in remittances sent by expatriates, with a 20.9% year-on-year growth by August 3, 2026. The country received $3.265 billion in remittances from July 1 to August 3, 2026, compared to $2.698 billion in the same period last year, according to the latest data from Bangladesh Bank.

The robust inflow of earnings from Bangladeshis working abroad has provided a significant boost to the nation's economy. During the first three days of August alone, remittance inflows reached $406 million, marking an 84.4% increase from the $220 million received in the same period a year earlier.

On August 3, 2026, expatriate Bangladeshis sent $133 million in remittances, contributing to the overall growth. The strong performance of remittance inflows indicates the continued reliance of the Bangladeshi economy on the contributions of its expatriate workforce.

This significant rise in remittances is crucial for Bangladesh, as it helps support millions of families and contributes to the country's economic stability. The increased earnings from abroad also highlight the vital role of expatriates in the nation's development.
