The Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) has commenced the sale of its products at subsidized prices in Rajshahi, aiming to provide essential goods at affordable rates. The initiative was inaugurated in the Chandipur area by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kazi Shahidul Islam. This program will benefit 1,74,057 cardholder families in Rajshahi, including those in nine upazilas.

The subsidized products are available through 36 dealer points in the city and 83 at the upazila level. The current package includes two litres of soybean oil, two kilograms of lentils, and one kilogram of sugar, along with optional soaps. The prices are set at Taka 200 for soybean oil, Taka 120 for lentils, and Taka 70 for sugar. Additionally, bath soap is priced at Taka 45 and laundry soap at Taka 23.

DC Kazi Shahidul Islam emphasized that regular monitoring is in place to ensure that the benefits reach the intended beneficiaries. Atiqur Rahman, deputy director of the TCB's Rajshahi Regional Office, noted that although rice was part of the initial package, it will be available from next month as the allocation was not received for July.

This initiative is part of the government's broader effort to provide relief to families by making essential commodities more accessible. The TCB has been instrumental in stabilizing prices and ensuring the availability of key food items during times of economic strain.
