In a strategic move to bolster its operations, the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) has established a 16-member support committee. The committee, formed under the Trade Organisations Act, 2022, aims to assist the newly appointed administrator, Md Fazlul Hoque, in managing the country's apex trade body effectively. The decision was communicated to the Ministry of Commerce through an office circular issued by Mr. Hoque.

Md Fazlul Hoque, a prominent business leader and former president of the Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA), officially took charge at the FBCCI headquarters in Motijheel on Sunday. His extensive experience in managing Plummy Fashions Ltd and serving as a board member of ICC Bangladesh positions him well to lead the FBCCI through its upcoming challenges.

The committee is composed of seven members from the Chamber Group and nine from the Association Group, ensuring a balanced representation of Bangladesh's diverse trade sectors. The Chamber Group members include Taskeen Ahmed from the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mohammad Amirul Haque from the Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and others from various regional chambers.

The Association Group members represent key industries such as garment manufacturing, textile mills, jute mills, and pharmaceuticals, among others. This diverse representation aims to provide comprehensive support and insights into the various sectors under the FBCCI's purview.

The committee's formation follows a formal announcement by the FBCCI Administrator, emphasizing the importance of a collaborative approach in overseeing the operations of the trade body. The move is expected to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the FBCCI in representing the interests of the business community.

With the new support committee in place, the FBCCI is poised to navigate the complexities of the trade landscape, leveraging the expertise and experience of its members to drive growth and development in the country's business sector.
