Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury announced that the appointment process for four commissioners and a chairman at the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) is nearly finalized. Their names will be made public within the next two weeks.
The announcement was made during a seminar titled 'Budget 2026-27: Expectations and Realities' held at the Economic Reporters Forum (ERF) office in Paltan, Dhaka. The seminar was attended by notable figures including East Coast Group Chairman Azam J Chowdhury, CPD Executive Director Fahmida Khatun, and BTMA President Shawkat Aziz Russell.
The minister stated that the new appointments will bring significant changes to the capital market, aiming to attract more companies to list on the stock exchange. He highlighted the challenges faced by the market, including under-capitalized banks and the devaluation of the dollar.
