In a significant operation, the District Detective Branch of Police in Chattogram arrested two individuals associated with the notorious terrorist Raihan, who is implicated in the murder of a prominent political leader. The arrests were made in the Shitalpur area of Sitakunda upazila, following a series of investigations and intelligence-driven raids.

The suspects, Md. Didar Alam and Md. Afsar Mia, both aged 30, were arrested on Sunday evening. During their interrogation, they confessed to participating in organized terrorist activities, extortion, and efforts to exert control over certain areas. Both men have multiple pending cases against them, including murder, weapons offenses, and terrorist activities.

As part of the ongoing investigation, law enforcement recovered a foreign-made pistol, a magazine, and two rounds of ammunition from a concealed underground location in the Jurerkul area of Raozan upazila. The seizure was disclosed by Police Superintendent Md. Masud Alam during a press conference held on Monday.

The operation was initiated after the murder of Maksudul Haque Chowdhury Masud, the vice-president of Rangunia Upazila Jubo Dal, on June 13. The assailants were identified through the analysis of CCTV footage, technical data, and intelligence reports.

Police Superintendent Md. Masud Alam highlighted the importance of the arrests in preventing further terrorist activities in the region. The recovered firearms and the confessions of the suspects underscore the ongoing threat and the commitment of law enforcement to combat it.
