Students from sixth to twelfth grade across the country participated in the 'Startup, Science Project and Innovation Idea Showcasing Program' on Friday. The event, organized under the Educational Excellence Support Scheme of the Secondary and Higher Education Division, Ministry of Education, aimed to foster creativity, problem-solving skills, analytical thinking, scientific mindset, and innovative capabilities among students.
The program was held in three phases: upazila-thana, district, and national. The first phase took place in 520 upazilas and thanas across the country, with local MPs, ministers, and public representatives attending the events. Approximately 30,000 secondary and higher secondary institutions participated, with over a lakh teams registering.
Innovative ideas ranged from communication aids for special needs children to drone-based urban planning. The top teams from the upazila and thana levels will proceed to the district level, and the best 100 teams will compete at the national level on June 28 at the China-Bangladesh Friendship Conference Center. The Prime Minister is expected to be the chief guest at the national event.
The program not only aimed to reward the best ideas but also to shift students away from rote learning and towards creative and analytical thinking. The displayed ideas, from picture-based communication systems to new agricultural possibilities and simple solutions to everyday problems, demonstrated the potential of the country's young minds to think differently and solve real-world issues.
