A long-standing issue at T-bandh, a popular tourist spot on the Padma River in Rajshahi, is finally being addressed with the construction of a modern public toilet and washroom complex. Initiated by the Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC), this new facility aims to provide relief for women, children, and tourists who have faced difficulties due to inadequate and unclean public toilets. The construction is almost complete, with finishing work currently underway.

Addressing a Critical Need

Thousands of people visit T-bandh every day, often with families and friends. The lack of proper sanitation facilities has been a significant problem, particularly for women, children, the elderly, and persons with special needs. Visitors have frequently complained about this issue, prompting RCC to expedite the construction under the direction of RCC Administrator Mahfuzur Rahman Riton.

Features of the New Complex

The new complex features a strong brick-concrete structure, a concrete roof, a collapsible gate, and stairs for safe access. City dwellers view this not just as a toilet but as a basic civic facility for tourists. Once operational, it is expected to provide a clean and safe environment for all visitors, including those with special needs.

Ongoing Efforts and Future Considerations

This project is part of RCC's continuous initiative to build people-friendly and women-friendly public toilets at various important locations in the city. However, ensuring regular cleanliness, pure water supply, adequate lighting, and security will be crucial after the facility opens. Visitors are also expected to play a role in preserving the facility through responsible behavior.

Impact on Tourism and Civic Services

The launch of the modern toilet and washroom at T-bandh is expected to significantly reduce the suffering of tourists and improve Rajshahi's tourism infrastructure and the quality of civic services.
