The Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) has seized contraband goods worth approximately Tk 2.04 crore at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA). The seized items include foreign cigarettes, gold ornaments, banned Gouri cream, and foreign liquor.

What items were seized?

During a special drive, CIID officials seized 481 cartons of foreign cigarettes, 99 grams of gold ornaments, 12 kilograms of banned Gouri cream, and 11 liters of foreign liquor.

Acting on a tip-off, CIID officials conducted surveillance of baggage collection of passengers arriving on a flight from Dubai. They found three unclaimed suspicious bags containing foreign cigarettes. Additional seizures were made from passengers arriving on different flights.

Legal action is being taken under the Customs Act, the Baggage Rules, 2025, and other relevant laws. CIID plans to continue such drives to prevent smuggling and illegal imports.
