A motorcyclist was killed in a road accident in Sherpur district this morning.

A motorcyclist was killed in a road accident on the Sherpur-Mymensingh Highway at Uttar Bazar intersection under Nakla upazila of Sherpur district this morning. The deceased has been identified as Md. Rabbinur, 45, son of late Moij Uddin of Dhanakursha Banshkandi village of the upazila.

According to police, Rabbinur was riding his motorcycle to his workplace when a fish-laden pickup van struck him on the highway. He died on the spot. Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ripon Chandra Gop of Nakla Police Station said police rushed to the scene after receiving information, recovered the body, and seized both the pickup van involved in the accident and the motorcycle.

The body has been sent to the Sherpur District Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy. Legal proceedings in connection with the incident are currently underway, the OC added.
