Flood conditions improve in multiple districts; government relief operations ongoing

The flood situation in Bangladesh's south-eastern and north-eastern districts is improving, with ongoing relief and rehabilitation activities.

The flood situation in Bangladesh's south-eastern and north-eastern districts is showing signs of improvement, while the government continues its relief and rehabilitation efforts in the affected areas. Reports from the Department of Mass Communication and the Department of Information indicate that relief stocks are adequate and operations are ongoing. Public awareness activities are also being conducted in response to the ongoing flash floods, landslides, and other natural disasters.

Current Relief Stocks and Distributions

In Chattogram, relief stocks include 516 metric tonnes of rice and Taka 1.75 million. A total of 805 metric tonnes of rice and Taka 6.75 million have already been distributed, with a current requirement of 592 metric tonnes of rice and Taka 10.5 million. In Cox's Bazar, relief stocks comprise 39 metric tonnes of rice, Taka 0.19 million, 1,678 packets of dry food, and seven bundles of corrugated iron sheets. So far, 126 metric tonnes of rice, Taka 0.515 million, and 4,778 packets of dry food have been distributed.

Ongoing Requirements and Distributions

The current requirement in Cox's Bazar is 535 metric tonnes of rice, Taka 28.56 million, 4,890 bundles of corrugated iron sheets, 20,000 water purification tablets, and 12,000 packets of dry food. In Noakhali, 1,200 packets of dry food have been distributed, and the current requirement is 100 metric tonnes of rice and Taka 2 million. In Rangamati, relief stocks include 205 metric tonnes of rice and Taka 1 million, with a total of 295 metric tonnes of rice and Taka 3.5 million already distributed. The current requirement is 500 metric tonnes of rice, Taka 2 million, 1,300 bundles of corrugated iron sheets, and assistance for 3,675 hectares of affected agricultural land.

Additional Districts and Requirements

In Khagrachhari, relief stocks include 100 metric tonnes of rice, Taka 0.95 million, and 46 bundles of corrugated iron sheets. A total of 300 metric tonnes of rice and Taka 3.05 million have already been distributed. In Bandarban, relief stocks comprise 124 metric tonnes of rice, Taka 80,000, and 200 packets of dry food. A total of 76 metric tonnes of rice, Taka 0.2 million, and 3,710 packets of dry food have been distributed. The current requirement is 65 metric tonnes of rice, Taka 4.3 million, 1,200 bundles of corrugated iron sheets, 2,200 packets of dry food, and 200 packets of baby food.
