1,200 Feni Farmers Benefit from Government Initiative with Seeds and Fertilizers

A government initiative has distributed free seeds and chemical fertilizers to 1,200 small and marginal farmers in Feni district.

In a significant move to support small and marginal farmers, 1,200 farmers in Feni district have received free seeds and chemical fertilizers under the government's agricultural incentive programme for the 2025-26 fiscal year. The distribution ceremony took place on Sunday morning at the Sadar Upazila Auditorium, marking a crucial step in bolstering agricultural productivity in the region.

Professor Zainal Abedin VP, Member of Parliament (MP) for Feni-2, attended the event as the chief guest and formally distributed the agricultural inputs. Emphasizing the vital role of farmers in ensuring the country's food security, Professor Abedin highlighted the importance of continued support for the agricultural sector.

The programme was organized by the Sadar Agriculture Office and presided over by Feni Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Sultana Nasrin Kanta. Additional Deputy Director (Crops) of the Department of Agricultural Extension, Md. Masud Hossain, was present as the special guest. Upazila Agriculture Officer Md. Mohiuddin delivered the welcome address, setting the tone for the event.

UNO Sultana Nasrin Kanta noted that farmers from all 12 unions and one municipality under Feni Sadar Upazila received high-yielding and hybrid vegetable seeds along with chemical fertilizers worth over Taka 18 lakh, free of cost. This initiative aims to enhance crop yields and improve the livelihoods of small farmers in the district.

Several local leaders and officials also addressed the programme, including Feni Sadar Upazila BNP Convener Fazlur Rahman Bokul, Municipal Convener Delwar Hossain Babul, Upazila Member Secretary Aman Uddin Qaiser Sabbir, District Krishak Dal President Md. Jasim Uddin, Joint Convener of Feni Sadar Upazila BNP Tapan Kar, and Feni Sadar Upazila Krishak Dal Convener Hafizur Rahman. Their presence underscored the community's commitment to supporting agricultural development.
